Beth’s Story
Who I Am & Where I’ve Been:
I am a 32-year-old mother of one. I am currently serving time in prison. Upon leaving my abuser, the courts decided to give my 14-year-old daughter to him for custody. His abuse of her got so bad, that she tried to commit suicide. I had only been granted supervised visitation because of his lies. So when I went to see my daughter in the hospital after her suicide attempt, I was charged with civil contempt and I’m now serving a six month sentence. My abuser is supposed to bring my daughter for visits, but has not and the courts do nothing about it!
How Thrive Has Helped:
Thrive has helped me to realize that I am not alone. That I am not the only one that the system has failed. They have also connected me with resources, to help me regain custody of my daughter when I get out of prison in a couple months. They have given me hope and that is something that I haven’t had in a very long time!
